Śrī Krishna Devarāya (Tulu: ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯ, Kannada: ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯ, Telugu:శ్రీ కృష్ణ దేవరాయులు) also known as Krishna Rai in some inscriptions was the famed Emperor of the Vijayanagara Empire who reigned from 1509 - 1529 CE.He is the third ruler of the Tuluva Dynasty. Presiding over the empire at its zenith, he is regarded as an icon by many Indians. Emperor Krishna Deva Raya earned the titles Kannada Rajya Rama Ramana (ಕನ್ನಡರಾಜ್ಯರಮಾರಮಣ),

) and Andhra Bhoja (ఆంధ్రభోజ).
Krishna Deva Raya was one of the greatest statesmen which medieval South India had produced. Especially for Telugu people he will remain forever in their hearts as the greatest king ever to rule the Āndhradeśa(Telugu land) as his period is considered as Swarnayuga (Golden period or Zenith) in the cultural and literary history of Telugus. Much information about his reign comes from the accounts of Portuguese travelers Domingo Paes and Fernao Nuniz. Krishna Deva Raya benefited from the able prime minister Timmarusu, who was regarded by the emperor as a father figure and was responsible for his coronation. Krishna Deva Raya was the son of Nagala Devi and Tuluva Narasa Nayaka, an army commander under Saluva Narasimha Deva Raya, who later took control of the empire to prevent its disintegration and became the founder of the Tuluva Dynasty, the third Hindu Dynasty to rule Vijayanagara. The emperor's coronation took place on the birthday of Hindu God Krishna, and his earliest inscription is from July 26, 1509 CE. He built a beautiful suburb near Vijayanagara called Nagalapura in memory of his mother, Nagala.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that conservation of Telugu language, culture and heritage should begin at home, though the State government has been doing its bit to the cause.
Speaking after presenting the “Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Samskruti Puraskaram” to the Mauritius Andhra Mahasabha here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said though English was playing a vital role in our lives nowadays, there was every reason to conserve our language and culture for we would be known by the future generations only through them.
People could play significant role in conserving the language by practising it at home and outside and languages like English should be used only where they were necessary, he felt.
Plea for funds
Chairman of the Legislative Council A. Chakrapani stated that the Telugu language had united people and played a key role in the formation of Andhra Pradesh. Former Minister Mandali Budha Prasad requested the Chief Minister to allocate funds to the Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao International Telugu Centre in the Telugu University for propagating the language.
President of Mauritius Andhra Mahasabha K. Ramana said Telugu people living there were doing their best to conserve the language and culture and pass it on to the future generations.
Andhra Pradesh Formation Day and Ugadi festivals were government holidays in Mauritius, Mr. Ramana stated.
Vice-Chancellor of Telugu University A. Bhumaiah and others participated.

కాచిగూడ, ఆగస్టు 4: తెలుగు భాష, తెలుగు సంస్కృతి, తెలుగు సాంప్రదాయాలను పరిరక్షించడం అందరి బాధ్యతగా తీసుకోవాలని, పాచ్చాత్య నాగరికత మోజులో మన సాంప్రదాయాలను మరిచిపోవద్దని రాష్ట్ర ముఖ్యమంత్రి కె.కిరణ్ కుమార్ రెడ్డి కోరారు. గురువారం సాయంత్రం పొట్టి శ్రీరాములు తెలుగు విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ఆధ్వర్యంలో మండలి వెంకట కృష్ణారావు సంస్కృతి పురస్కారాన్ని మారిషస్ ఆంధ్ర మహాసభకు అందించే కార్యక్రమాన్ని పబ్లిక్ గార్డెన్‌లోని జూబ్లీహాల్‌లో ఘనంగా నిర్వహించారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమానికి ముఖ్యఅతిధిగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి కిరణ్ కుమార్‌రెడ్డి విచ్చేయగా తెలుగు విశ్వవిద్యాలయం ఉపాధ్యాక్షులు హనుమాండ్ల భూమయ్య అధ్యక్షత వహించారు.
ఈ సందర్భంగా మారిషస్ ఆంధ్ర మహాసభ అధ్యక్షులైన కోడి రమణకు మండలి వెంకట కృష్ణారావు సంస్కృతీ పురస్కారంగా 25 వేల నగదు, జ్ఞాపిక, ప్రశంసాపత్రాన్ని అందించి సత్కరించారు. ఈ సందర్భంగా ముఖ్యమంత్రి మాట్లాడుతూ విదేశాలల్లో రాష్ట్రాయేతర ప్రాంతాల్లోవున్న తెలుగువారి మధ్య సత్సంబంధాలను కొనసాగించాలని కోరారు. మారుతున్న కాలానికి అనుగుణంగా తెలుగుభాషను మరింత పరిరక్షించుకోవాల్సిన బాధ్యత మనందరిపై ఉందని అన్నారు. ఆంగ్లభాషలో విద్యాభ్యాసంతో ఉద్యోగ అవకాశాలు మెండుగావున్నా మన భాషను మాత్రం మర్చిపోవద్దని సూచించారు. ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో గౌరవ అతిధిగా శాసనమండలి అధ్యక్షులు డా. ఎ.చక్రపాణి ప్రసంగిస్తూ ఇతర రాష్ట్రాల్లో తెలుగువారు భాషా సంస్కృతుల పరిరక్షణ కోసం ఎంతో తపనపడుతున్నారని వారికి అండగానిలిచి వారి సమస్యలు పరిష్కరించేందుకు ముందుకు రావల్సిన బాధ్యత మనపై ఉందని అన్నారు.
ఈ కార్యక్రమంలో మాజీ మంత్రి మండలి బుద్దప్రసాద్, తెలుగు విశ్వవిద్యాలయం రిజిష్ట్రార్ భట్టు రమేష్, అంతర్జాతీయ తెలుగు కేంద్రం ఇన్‌చార్జీ డైరెక్టర్ ఆచార్య మునిరత్నం నాయుడు, డా. చెన్నయ్య తదితరులు పాల్గొన్నారు.

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy has said that conservation of Telugu language, culture and heritage should begin at home, though the State government has been doing its bit to the cause.

Speaking after presenting the “Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao Samskruti Puraskaram” to the Mauritius Andhra Mahasabha here on Thursday, the Chief Minister said though English was playing a vital role in our lives nowadays, there was every reason to conserve our language and culture for we would be known by the future generations only through them.

Perini Kakatiya Dance

Perini Shivatandavam or Perini Thandavam is an ancient dance form from South India which has been revived in recent times. It originated and prospered in Andhra Pradesh during the Kakatiya dynasty.Perini is performed by males and it is believed that in ancient times this was performed before the soldiers set to war. Nataraja Ramakrishna was the person who revived this art form recently.
The Perini Thandavam is a dance form usually performed by males. It is called 'Dance of Warriors'. Warriors before leaving to the battlefield enact this dance before the idol of Lord Shiva. The dance form, Perini, reached its pinnacle during the rule of the 'Kakatiyas' who established their dynasty at Warangal and ruled for almost two centuries.
The Perini Thandavam, Andhra Pradesh It is believed that this dance form invokes 'Prerana' (inspiration) and is dedicated to supreme dancer, Lord Shiva. One can find evidence of this dance in the sculptures of the Ramappa Temple at Warangal.
Perini is a vigorous dance done to the resounding beats of drums. Dancers drive themselves to a state of mental abstraction where they feel the power of Shiva in their body. While dancing they invoke Shiva to come into him and dance through him. The Perini Thandavam is indeed believed to be the most invigorating and intoxicating male dance form.
Perini dance form almost disappeared after the decline of the Kakatiya dynasty but Dr. Nataraja Ramakrishna father of Andhra Natyam brought renaissance in Perini dance, which was on verge of extinction.
